About

Background

Founded in 1976, the Monterey Bay Certified Farmers Markets are the oldest and largest farmers markets on the Central Coast, featuring four market locations in Aptos, Monterey, and Carmel. Each market has its own unique style that reflects its community, and two of the markets operate year-round.

Practices

As a 'certified' organization, the farmers are certified with the state and sell only products they grow themselves. This ensures that all produce and goods are directly sourced from the growers, maintaining a high standard of quality and authenticity.

Of note

With over 80 growers and vendors, the markets offer a wide array of products including fresh seafood, local honey, freshly baked pastries, flowers, potted plants, seedlings, orchids, and award-winning pottery. The markets also support local communities by donating up to three spaces per month to local non-profits. The Carmel market is located in the Barnyard Shopping Village, surrounded by lush gardens and offering a variety of unique shops, galleries, and restaurants.
