About the Farm

Background

Established in 2016, York Fresh Food Farms is the first and only urban farm in the City of York, PA. It was created to reduce hunger by growing and distributing healthy food to those in need. Over the years, it has expanded its operations to include two growing locations within York City.

Practices

The farm employs sustainable, urban farming methods to grow over 30 tons of organically grown produce annually. Farming activities continue year-round, facilitated by two upgraded high tunnels, a cold-resistant low tunnel, and a winterized food preparation area. These methods ensure a steady supply of fresh vegetables regardless of the season.

The Rest

York Fresh Food Farms operates three main programs: a sustainable urban farming program, a Mobile Produce Market with 15 stops across different neighborhoods, and a Seasonal Farm Shares program that delivers boxes of farm-fresh vegetables. The Mobile Produce Market runs from June to November, while the Seasonal Farm Shares program offers both summer and winter options, including locally sourced fruit and add-on options like eggs, chicken, pork, bread, and rolls. Free delivery is available within the City of York, with pickup options for those outside the delivery area.
