About

Background

Located in the heart of the Butter Valley, Berks County, PA, Valley Run CSA is family-operated by Tim and Krista Showalter Ehst, who are part of the 11th generation farming on the Ehst Homestead Farm. The farm has a limited number of members who benefit from a unique CSA model that provides a variety of produce and animal products.

Practices

All produce is grown using organic practices, and the meat is pastured. The farm avoids chemical pesticides, herbicides, and fertilizers, and does not use GMO seeds. All feeds and supplements are organic and GMO-free.

Of note

In addition to vegetables, pork, chicken, and eggs, the farm offers memberships for beef, cheese, raw milk, and coffee. Members pick up their shares weekly, selecting whatever they want in any quantity, grocery store style, every week of the year. The farm aims to de-industrialize agriculture and support the movement for healthy, local food.
