Background

Briana Yablonski, who began her farming journey in 2014, founded Under Foot Farm in the fall of 2019. With experience on farms in Pennsylvania, Virginia, Minnesota, and Tennessee, she brought her knowledge to Knoxville. The farm operates on about 1/4 of an acre and offers over 50 different crops to the local community through farmers' markets and a CSA program.

Practices

Under Foot Farm emphasizes soil and ecosystem health by using ecological methods. They add amendments such as compost and seaweed extracts to develop healthy soil, which in turn supports healthy plants. The farm strictly avoids synthetic fertilizers, pesticides, and herbicides. While not opposed to machinery, they primarily rely on hand tools and minimal tillage to cultivate their crops.

Of note

Under Foot Farm offers a spring/summer CSA with signups currently open, and a fall CSA following an August break. The farm is deeply integrated into the Knoxville community, providing fresh produce directly to consumers.
