About the Farm
Background
Trapple Orchard began in 2011 in Little Sioux, Iowa, strategically located between Omaha, NE and Sioux City, IA. Over the years, it has grown to include over 450 fruit trees and offers a diverse array of fruits such as apples, pears, cherries, plums, apricots, peaches, and berries. The orchard also initiated U-pick operations in 2019, allowing visitors to harvest their own fruit.
Practices
The orchard emphasizes community engagement through its Sonshine Orchards initiative, which provides free consultation and resources to aspiring orchardists. This initiative reflects a commitment to sharing knowledge and fostering a sense of community among local growers. The orchard's practices are rooted in a philosophy of giving back and supporting others in their agricultural endeavors.
The Rest
Trapple Orchard offers a unique membership program that includes rent-a-tree options, allowing members to adopt a tree for a season. The orchard is also a part of Harrison County's vibrant agricultural scene, which features seasonal activities like mushroom hunting, berry picking, and apple harvesting. Visitors can enjoy various outdoor attractions in the area, such as hiking in Loess Hills State Forest, biking scenic byways, and fishing in the Little Sioux or Missouri Rivers.
