About

Background

Located just outside of Ashland City, Tennessee, Timbertop Farm has been cultivating shiitake mushrooms for 24 years. The farm sells its produce to local restaurants and farmers markets, and recently added microgreens to its offerings. The name 'Timbertop' reflects the farm's practice of using tree tops from the local logging industry, turning a waste product into a valuable food source.

Practices

Timbertop Farm grows shiitake mushrooms on premium oak wood, avoiding harmful insecticides, herbicides, and fungicides. The farm embraces biodynamic farming methods and focuses on practical conservation by sourcing production and sales needs locally. This approach ensures the farm remains a good steward of the land and community.

Of note

Timbertop Farm is a regular vendor at Richland Park Farmers Market and Cheatham County Farmers Market. The farm is also developing a website for dry product sales and has recently started selling microgreens.
