About the Farm
Background
Founded in 2008 by Jason and Amy Douglas, the farm began with a half-acre garden and a partially finished roadside stand. Over the years, it has expanded to 10 acres of cultivated land within a larger 107-acre family farm, Morning Dew Farms. The farm has grown to include a variety of produce, a CSA program, and a new Country Store opened in 2022 to celebrate their 14th year of business.
Practices
The farm emphasizes growing over 50 varieties of vegetables to offer diverse, vine-ripened, and hand-picked produce. They collaborate with Morning Dew Farms to provide additional crops like squash, zucchini, snap beans, blueberries, and pastured beef. Their mission is to break away from commercially bred produce, focusing instead on taste, smell, and appearance. The farm also offers individual frozen cuts of pastured beef, ensuring high-quality, healthy options for their community.
The Rest
The farm's products are available at their NC Certified Roadside Farm Market, through a CSA program, and at the Downtown Hickory Farmers' Market. The Country Store offers a nostalgic experience with antiques, local products, and fresh food options like ice cream, deli sandwiches, and salads. The farm is a place of beauty and peace, aiming to help customers relax and enjoy fresh, local produce. They also emphasize community support, offering not just food but also emotional and spiritual encouragement.
