About

Facts
2 acres farmed
Background

Located in Kelsey, California, this farm was the first in El Dorado County to be certified organic over 40 years ago. It has since become known for its variety of fruits and vegetables, particularly heirloom and specialty crops discovered through a lifetime of organic growing.

Practices

The farm's produce is 100 percent free from chemical pesticides, artificial chemical fertilizers, and GMOs. The focus is on healthy, fertile soil, achieved through homemade compost, legume cover crop rotations, natural mulches, and drip irrigation. These practices not only produce nutritious crops but also support a vibrant ecosystem of bees, butterflies, and birds. Water is sourced from a well deep in the foothills, and the farm benefits from abundant sunshine and summer heat.

Of note

The farm's hilltop location provides ideal air circulation and a long growing season, contributing to the exceptional sweetness of its produce. Visitors can contact the farm to place an order or inquire about current crops.
