About

Background

Located near McNeal in the heart of Cochise County, Arizona, the farm is about 20 miles east of Historic Tombstone. Known for raising Dorper sheep, Limousin cross cattle, and farm-raised pork, the farm has carved a niche in providing grassfed meats. The Dorper sheep, originally bred in South Africa, thrive in the arid conditions of Southeast Arizona.

Practices

The farm focuses on raising ruminants like sheep, cows, and goats on grass and browse, avoiding grain entirely. Dorper sheep are born in the pasture and harvested between 90 and 115 pounds to avoid excess fat. Limousin cross cattle are also raised for grassfed beef, while pigs are fed grain as they are non-ruminants. All animals in the Natural Meats program are free from antibiotics, artificial hormones, growth stimulants, and unnecessary medicines. If an animal requires antibiotics, it is removed from the Natural program and sold through ordinary means.

Of note

Visitors are welcome to stop by the farm, although it is a 'work in progress' rather than a showplace. The farm prioritizes the well-being of its animals over aesthetic perfection.
