About the Farm

Background

Riehm Produce Farm boasts a five-generation family legacy. The journey began in the mid-1950s when John’s father George and grandfather Leonard decided to grow vegetables. By the 1960s, cucumbers were harvested for processing, and migrant labor was employed. In 1965, George expanded the farm to include strawberries, but he passed away before the first harvest. His wife Anna and their children continued the farm until 1968. The farm was rented to relatives until John took over in 1978, growing tomatoes and experimenting with other crops. The roadside stand started in 1985 when John's sons sold tomatoes to earn Boy Scout badges, which expanded over the years. By 2013, a new building was constructed for the farm's produce, and in 2015, Phil returned to help grow the CSA program.

Practices

The farm emphasizes chemical-free food production and enhancing flavors. They prioritize soil health and daily farming practices, including testing the mineral content of their foods to ensure nutritional quality. The farm grows vegetables year-round in fields and unheated greenhouses, even during winter months.

The Rest

The on-site store hosts community events and offers a variety of produce, fresh eggs, and farm-raised meats. The CSA Custom Farm Boxes provide fresh produce and other farm products to the Greater Toledo area, Findlay, and Tiffin. The farm also organizes seasonal events like the Corn Maze & Barnyard Fun, Strawberry Abundant Days, and PopUp Days. They offer party rental spaces and have hosted events like the Total Solar Eclipse viewing.
