About

Facts
56 acres total
Background

John and Tiffany Cassidy met at Texas A&M, where they both majored in electrical engineering. After graduation, they married and initially bought a small house on 1 acre. Ten years later, they purchased 56 acres of unimproved land in Merit, Texas, sold their house, and moved their family of seven into a camper to start their farm. They now manage a large market garden, ten bee hives, and a herd of pasture pigs.

Practices

The farm focuses on regenerative farming methods to improve the land and provide quality food for the community. Their seasonal produce is grown without harmful pesticides or herbicides, using organic, natural pest control when necessary. Pigs are raised naturally in dense trees and pasture, rotated regularly, and supplemented with locally purchased feed. Chickens are kept in mobile coops, moved daily to ensure access to fresh grass and bugs. Bee hives are maintained with minimal processing of honey.

Of note

Produce is available in early summer and fall at their roadside farm stand, while pork will be available starting in November 2023. The farm also offers pasture-raised pork by the cut, sampler box, or custom processed by the half and whole. Additionally, they provide pasture eggs year-round and local honey harvested in the fall. Tiffany Cassidy also runs a photography business and occasionally hosts photo sessions on the farm.
