About the Farm
Background
Located in Decatur, Indiana, this farm was transformed from a concentrated dairy operation housing over 400 cows into a pasture-rich paradise. Known for delivering the health benefits of real food to surrounding communities, it has become a shining star in the small organic farming movement. Although not fully certified organic, the farm strives to go beyond organic in its practices, revitalizing the land under its care.
Practices
The farm's small herd of Ayrshire dairy cows are pastured year-round on quality forages grown in healthy, pesticide and herbicide-free soil. The cows are managed to ensure creamy, nutritious milk is available year-round, while the goats experience an 8-10 week dry period during the winter. The philosophy centers on the belief that healthy milk comes from healthy cows, which eat healthy grass grown from healthy soil. The cows are raised on a non-GMO forage diet, harvesting most of their own food on pasture, and receive no grain.
The Rest
Deliveries are available throughout North and Central Indiana, including Fort Wayne, Muncie, Indianapolis, Lafayette, Pendleton, Munster/East Chicago, Knox, Warsaw, and South Bend. The farm offers tours and samples, encouraging visitors to see how they operate and try their products before buying. Additional products include bulk beef, soup bones from cull dairy cows, grass-fed beef and eggs from Seven Sons Farms, raw honey, and beeswax. The farm also advocates for food freedom, supporting the right of all Hoosiers to choose what they eat.
