About

Facts
Founded 2011 50 acres total
Background

Founded in 2011 by Alan and Jill Rose, New Sprout Organic Farms began as a 50-acre operation in Asheville, North Carolina. Inspired by the works of Michael Pollan and Wendell Berry, the founders transitioned from careers in corporate consulting and the public school system to farming. With support from the Appalachian Sustainable Agriculture Project and Carolina Farm Stewardship Association, the farm quickly grew, partnering with over 10 organic farms across the Southeast. Their produce is now available at supermarkets throughout the East Coast.

Practices

New Sprout Organic Farms emphasizes the importance of local food economies by growing produce close to where it will be consumed, reducing energy use and pollution. Their certified organic farming methods ensure that vegetables are fresh and nutrient-rich. The farm is Climate Neutral Certified, having measured and compensated for all brand emissions from cradle to customer in 2022, and is actively working towards net zero emissions.

Of note

New Sprout Organic Farms offers a wide variety of produce, including beets, broccoli, cabbage, carrots, kale, lettuce, peppers, radishes, spinach, squash, sweet potatoes, tomatoes, and more. They supply produce to supermarkets, produce box delivery companies, and distributors throughout the eastern and midwestern states.
