Mauna Kai Orchards
About
Mauna Kai Orchards began transforming former sugar cane land into a thriving fruit orchard in 2009 with the help of dedicated ohana and friends. Located between the volcanic slopes of Mauna Kea and the Pacific Ocean, the farm has grown to ship fresh lychee across the Hawaiian Islands and anticipates its first mangosteen harvest soon.
The farm benefits from cool trade winds, plentiful sun, and frequent tropical rains, creating an ideal climate for their diverse crops. The family emphasizes the importance of working harmoniously with the land, ensuring that their farming methods support the health of the soil and the surrounding ecosystem.
The Hawaiian words 'mauna' and 'kai' translate to 'mountain' and 'sea,' reflecting the unique geographical location of the farm. Visitors can enjoy the scenic beauty of the area while learning about the cultivation of tropical fruits.
