About

Background

Locavorious has partnered with several small farms in the communities around Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti. Known for providing locally grown, delicious, and healthy frozen fruits and vegetables, Locavorious aims to enable people to benefit the earth and the community by eating locally in the winter months. The company preserves and provides delicious locally grown frozen fruits and vegetables for the locavores of Ann Arbor, making it easy to eat local food year-round. Locavorious also sells its frozen produce at the Ann Arbor Farmers Market, People’s Food Co-op, Ypsi Food Co-op, Arbor Farms, and Whole Foods Ann Arbor and Troy stores.

Practices

During the peak harvest, Locavorious prepares and packages local produce at its peak ripeness and freshness, preserving it in a community freezer. This method ensures that the produce retains its nutritional value and flavor, providing a reliable source of local food during the winter months.

Of note

Members can pick up their share of the frozen harvest periodically at designated locations during the winter months. The Locavorious kitchen crew has preserved thousands of pounds of food for their locally grown frozen produce CSA members. Featured recipes like rhubarb snacking cake and apple pumpkin crisp highlight the versatility and deliciousness of their offerings.
