Little Elk Organic Farm
About
The farm has been in the Dalquist family since it was homesteaded in the late 1800s. The dairy operation has been Certified Organic since 2005. The farm is known for its commitment to bringing wholesome food to neighbors and friends, with a focus on community and family involvement.
The farm follows Certified Organic practices for its milk and vegetables, ensuring no synthetic pesticides or fertilizers are used. They breed cows for A2/A2 and polled genetics, offering raw A2/A2 milk upon request. Their eggs and poultry meat, while not certified, are raised organically. The farm also shares various cultures, including yogurt, kefir, kombucha, and sourdough, promoting a holistic approach to food and health.
The farm offers a variety of workshops, including cheese-making, grafting, and pruning classes. They also provide resources and recommendations for those interested in learning more about organic farming and food preparation. The Little Elk River, which flows by the farm, adds to the picturesque setting. The farm is a hub for community activities, offering fresh beef, pastured poultry, and hand-harvested wild rice. The family enjoys outdoor activities and values the interconnectedness of farming, ecology, and human health.
