Lettuce Heads Aquaponics and Farm
About
Kurk and Nick Ziegler, fifth-generation farmers, transitioned from their family's pig farm to starting an aquaponic farm after years of gardening and selling at local farmers markets. Their passion for growing fresh food and making a positive change led to the establishment of their new farming enterprise, with support from their fathers, Kevin and Kenny.
The farm operates a 34x96 aquaponic house that grows a variety of leafy greens, herbs, and other crops alongside 500 tilapia. They also maintain 2 acres of outdoor planting space, rotating crops each season to nurture the soil. Organic compost and fertilizers are added based on soil sampling recommendations to ensure the healthiest and most nutritious vegetables. The farm is committed to sustainable and organic practices, focusing on land stewardship.
The farm aims to have customers fall in love with the taste of fresh, chemical-free vegetables. Their dedication to sustainability and environmental consciousness is central to their mission.
