Laura Lake Farm
About
Laura Lake Farms has developed a reputation for prioritizing the well-being of their hogs, ensuring they have access to a full feed ration year-round and supplementing their diet with seasonal vegetables and fruits.
The farm provides hogs with a diet that includes a full feed ration recommended by modern animal nutritionists, supplemented with seasonal vegetables and fruits such as green beans, sweet corn, zucchini, tomatoes, carrot tops, squash, pumpkins, and apples. A one hundred tree orchard supplies additional fruit from July to December. Hogs are given garlic several times during their lifecycle for its anti-parasitic properties. The farm maintains a low concentration of animals and ample space for movement, allowing pigs to live outdoors, root, and wallow, which helps them obtain necessary minerals and nutrients from the soil.
The farm's approach combines dietary supplements, natural behaviors, and environmental factors like Minnesota winters to effectively manage parasite control.
