About the Farm
Background
Nick and Krystal Baltos started the farm in 2018 after years of dreaming about it. Located in the Umpqua Valley near Roseburg, Oregon, the farm is a family operation with some seasonal help from Nick’s dad and a part-time employee. They grow a mixed vegetable garden with around 60 different crops each year and are in the process of establishing a small fruit and nut orchard.
Practices
The farm uses natural growing methods, adding compost and other natural materials to the gardens, and avoids chemical fertilizers, herbicides, pesticides, fungicides, or other chemicals. They are certified naturally grown and emphasize water conservation through drip irrigation. The farm relies on minimal inputs, human power, and passive processes whenever possible.
The Rest
Customers are invited to visit the farm to see how their food is grown. The farm offers a CSA program where members receive a weekly box of fresh, seasonal produce and priority access to the best harvests. They also vend at the Umpqua Valley Farmers’ Market and the Canyonville Farmers’ Market from Spring through Fall.
