About the Farm

Background

Located in the mountains of eastern Kentucky, this family farm operates on four acres of crop and orchard production surrounded by over 100 acres of wooded land. Known for their local CSA basket pickups in Morehead, they grow a diverse array of produce primarily for their CSA members. The farm is committed to preserving local and regional seed heritage while also cultivating heirloom varieties from around the world.

Practices

The farm follows sustainable, organic farming practices, despite not being certified organic. They grow all their produce by hand, emphasizing the deep connection between all life and their role as caretakers of the land. With a focus on earth-friendly farming, they grow over 200 different varieties each year, including more than 100 types of tomatoes. The family consumes what they grow, ensuring the produce is safe and healthy for their customers.

The Rest

The farm plans several on-the-farm events, including workshops on inoculating shiitake logs, heirloom tomato tastings, high tunnel construction, and garden-side meals with music. They work diligently to maintain the trust of their CSA members and produce customers, inviting people to connect with the natural rhythms of life and enjoy real food grown with care.
