Forgotten Foods Farm
About
The farm, located in Eastern Kentucky, has been in Channing Richardson's family for six generations, serving various purposes including a sustenance farm, a tobacco farm, and a cattle farm. After nearly 30 years of inactivity, Channing and Amy Richardson reignited the tradition of farming on this land. Channing's background in Environmental Science and Botany, combined with Amy's love for storytelling and writing, has shaped their vision for the farm. Their journey began with a shared love of good food and has grown into a family endeavor involving their children, Bryum and Thelia.
The farm adheres to certified organic practices, focusing on growing heirloom vegetable crops. They emphasize the importance of knowing where food comes from and aim to foster a local foods community by providing high-quality, healthy produce. The family is dedicated to sustainable farming methods, ensuring that the land is treated with care and respect to maintain its fertility and productivity for future generations.
The farm offers a CSA program, providing customers with a steady supply of seasonal produce. They also sell their produce at the Farmers’ Market in Morehead, KY. The Richardson family is passionate about educating their community on the importance of local foods and sustainable living. They host workshops and events to engage with their customers and share their knowledge and experiences.
