Facts

Background

Life at High Ground Farm has been authentic and simple, in step with the seasons and the land, for over 30 years. The farm, surrounding a 1850's North Carolina farmhouse on the National Historic Registry, embraces the conservation of heritage breeds, land, and architecture. Growing food from the soil, cooking from scratch, and eating at home has been a way of life for too many years to count.

Practices

Large gentle chickens forage on grass, woodlands, whole grains, and organic vegetables. The farm relies on self-reliance, sustainability, ingenuity, and conservation, painting a picture of a life deeply connected to the land and its rhythms.

Of note

For sale are large brown eggs, chicks and eggs for hatching by wait list, herbs, flowers, and vegetables in season. Visitors can step back from the 21st century into the 19th, enjoying the gentle coo of hens, the scent of English roses and Southern gardenias, and the taste of sweet tomatoes.
