Griggstown Quail Farm and Market
About
In 1975, George Rude began raising a handful of quail on two acres in the historic village of Griggstown, Princeton, N.J. By 1992, after purchasing the land from Peter Josten, the farm expanded to over 65 acres, raising pheasants, quail, chickens, ducks, turkeys, and partridge. The farm is known for its all-natural, free-range, and hormone-free poultry. In 2009, they started a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program to provide fresh, local produce to their customers.
The farm adheres to all-natural methods, ensuring that all birds are free of growth hormones and antibiotics, and are raised cage-free without overcrowding. They focus on free-range practices, particularly with heritage breed turkeys and traditional white turkeys. The farm also houses a USDA processing plant, allowing them to process poultry on-site five days a week.
The farm market is open year-round, offering fresh vegetables, poultry, baked goods, and specialty items. Their products, including assorted fruit pies, soups, and turkey chili, are made on the premises. The farm also delivers to distributors and restaurants in New Jersey, New York, and Philadelphia.
