Frolona Farm
About
Frolona Farm has been in the Davis family since 1828, with a rich history evident in its 1880s farmhouse, old general store turned library, and various historic structures. The farm's legacy includes relics from a sharecropping community and artifacts from Creek tribes. Josh Davis, a descendant, returned to continue the family tradition of farming and stewardship.
Frolona Farm employs management-intensive grazing practices, rotational grazing for cows, and supplements the diet of heritage breed pigs and turkeys with a small amount of grain. The farm uses no pesticides, herbicides, or synthetic fertilizers, adhering to Certified Naturally Grown standards. Wild harvesting of berries and the integration of wetland restoration and solar panels highlight their commitment to ecological balance.
The farm also features a unique blend of old and new, with structures like the blacksmith shop and cotton house repurposed for current use. Josh Davis builds custom acoustic instruments, adding a creative dimension to the farm's offerings. Visitors can experience the farm's produce at local farmers markets and explore the historic landscape dotted with arrowheads and old silos.
