About the Farm
Background
Located in Northside Village, the 65-acre Fay Mountain Farm was purchased by the Town of Charlton in 2002 with the help of a grant from the Mass. Division of Conservation Services and funding from the Masonic Home through a state agricultural mitigation fund. The farm is leased for continued apple orchard and various crop and hay production.
Practices
Fay Mountain Farm employs a leasing model to maintain its agricultural activities, focusing on apple orchards and a diverse range of crops. The farm's practices include growing a wide variety of fruits and vegetables such as pork, raspberries, peaches, blueberries, apples, cherries, cabbage, cauliflower, kale, broccoli, brussel sprouts, swiss chard, bok choi, lettuce/greens, radish, carrots, potatoes, zucchini, summer squash, cucumbers, peppers, eggplant, corn, watermelon, cantaloupe, leeks, beans, beets, herbs, onions, spinach, butternut squash, pumpkins, acorn squash, delicata squash, blue hubbard, buttercup, turnips, and tomatoes.
The Rest
Fay Mountain Farm offers Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) programs for both produce and meat. The produce CSA provides fresh fruits and vegetables weekly, while the meat CSA includes pork from Fay Mountain Farm and grass-fed beef from Crooked Creek Farm. The farm also features a store, hiking trails, and various events throughout the year.
