About the Farm

Background

The property, known to be sacred to Native Americans, became Camp Pioneer in the 1940s and was run by the Atlanta YMCA. For over forty years, it served as one of Georgia’s greatest summer camps. In 1986, it became Camp Pioneer Resort under the Excel Group, Ltd., which made numerous improvements. In 1998, the current owners took over, continuing the legacy of sustainability and stewardship.

Practices

The current owners are passionate about sustainability, maintaining the land as a conservation facility. The property features five bubbling streams and pristine waterfalls, offering some of the cleanest water in the Southeast. The organic farm and garden are integral parts of the facility, providing educational tours and hands-on experiences with farm animals like goats and chickens.

The Rest

Enota is located at the highest private elevation property in Georgia, surrounded by the Chattahoochee National Forest and near the Appalachian Trail. It offers various accommodations and can host up to 250 people for seminars, workshops, retreats, camps, weddings, and other gatherings. The facility includes a restored Lodge with a huge stone fireplace and a fair-trade gift shop.
