About the Farm
Background
Tucked away on the bluffs overlooking the Minnesota River Valley in Eden Prairie, MN, the Marshall family farm has a rich history dating back to 1953 when George Marshall bought the farm. The farm supplied Rogers roadside market, operated by Harry and Evelyn Rogers, until the late 1980s when the Marshalls took over. Carrie and Greg, fourth-generation farmers, continue the tradition of farming the way Carrie's great-grandfather did, while incorporating modern technologies to improve efficiencies. The farm market has become a beloved stop for Eden Prairie residents seeking fresh, locally grown produce and more.
Practices
Carrie and Greg are committed to sustainable farming practices. They limit pesticide use and manage pests ecologically through crop rotation, cultivation, and hand hoeing. They support bee-friendly practices and maximize biodiversity by integrating livestock and crop production. Water quality is protected through managed trickle irrigation, and responsible soil management techniques are followed using cover crops and mulches. Their meats are humanely raised and butchered, and their eggs come from pasture-raised chickens.
The Rest
Marshall’s Farm Market operates from July through November, offering an extensive selection of fruits, vegetables, meats (beef, pork, chicken, turkey), fresh eggs, hand-cut flowers, locally made gifts, and vintage items. Home delivery for fresh eggs and meat is available from December through June. The farm also samples products at Williams Sonoma each month and keeps customers updated via Facebook.
