Dragonfly Cove Farm
About
Dragonfly Cove Farm, located at the confluence of the Eastern and Kennebec rivers in mid-coast Maine, is the creation of Joe Murray and Marge Kilkelly. Known for its diverse offerings, the farm raises and sells goat meat, tanned goat hides, broilers, pork cuts, turkeys, and German hard neck garlic. The farm also features a commercial kitchen producing pancake mix, hot cereal mix, and a variety of treats. Goat meat is sold through Thyme for Goat, a collaborative of three local farms, and individual cuts of meat, sausages, pepperoni, summer sausage, and salami are always available at the farm.
The farm emphasizes hands-on, integrated farming practices. Visitors can participate in chores, feed animals, and collect eggs, fostering a deep connection to the land and its cycles. The farm's approach includes raising cashmere goats, poultry, and pigs in a manner that respects the animals and the environment. The large farm kitchen serves as a hub for culinary education, where classes on making cheese, cookies, pickles, and eggrolls are offered, highlighting the farm-to-table philosophy.
Dragonfly Cove Farm offers 'Family Day on the Farm' experiences, where visitors can engage in daily farm activities and enjoy a local foods lunch. The farm is a vibrant community space, hosting various events and classes that bring people closer to the source of their food. For more information and to schedule a visit, interested parties are encouraged to contact the farm directly.
