Cottage Hill Dairy
About
The property was originally established as a cow dairy by homesteaders, with the original barn located in a muddy gulley. Over time, the barn was relocated to higher ground and restored to be both functional and beautiful. The current owners began with four Oberhasli does in 2016 and have since expanded to 75 Oberhasli and Sable goats.
The farm employs gentle pasteurization to maintain milk quality while eliminating harmful pathogens. Goats are raised on a 22-acre farm with green pastures south of Oregon City. The pastures are a mix of brome, orchard grass, fescue, red clover, hairy vetch, sweet rye grass, chicory, and buckwheat, tailored to the dietary needs of goats. Influenced by Permaculture principles, the farm emphasizes low-impact grazing and sustainable land management.
The goats are registered with the American Dairy Goat Association and are treated with care from birth, often responding to their names and enjoying peanuts as treats. The farm also produces goat milk soaps and lotions, handcrafted with simple, wholesome ingredients.
