About the Farm
Background
Cedar Hill Farm, located in Orange, CT, was purchased by the Bespuda Family in 1929. Initially, the farm operated as a dairy, producing and bottling milk on-site for local delivery. Over time, the farm diversified to include vegetables, hay, and corn. After selling the dairy cows, the farm expanded its beef herd. Today, three generations of the Bespuda Family are involved in the farm's daily operations.
Practices
The farm raises beef cattle and pastured poultry, ensuring all animals are free from added hormones. Beef cattle are supplemented with hay and corn grown on the farm during months when pasture is not abundant. Poultry are fed grain milled in Connecticut. The farm produces all the feed for its herd, emphasizing local feed production.
The Rest
Cedar Hill Farm offers locally raised beef for sale year-round, as well as hay and straw for livestock feed and seasonal decorations. The farm's newest endeavor includes raising broiler chickens in the spring and summer, and Thanksgiving turkeys in the fall.
