Background

Blue Skys Farm began in 2006 when Christina Dedora discovered Southside Community Land Trust’s program at Urban Edge Farm. Initially started as a way to continue her passion for farming developed in France, the farm has grown to lease land from Southside Community Land Trust and operates on a shared, cooperatively-managed space with 16 other farms on 50 acres in western Cranston, Rhode Island.

Practices

The farm is committed to chemical-free farming, avoiding pesticides and synthetic fertilizers. They practice responsible land stewardship and utilize recycled packaging products whenever possible. Their approach emphasizes the interconnectedness of farming practices, ecology, and human health, ensuring that the land is treated with care and respect.

Of note

Blue Skys Farm offers a variety of products including vegetable shares through their CSA, eggs, herbal teas, fruit, and kombucha shares. They sell their produce at farmers markets and to restaurants via the FarmFreshRI Market Mobile. The farm also welcomes visitors for tours and offers opportunities to work in exchange for food. The team at Blue Skys Farm includes Christina Dedora, Kendra Doe-Mode, Cheryl Dedora-Pynn, and Kim Morin, each bringing their unique backgrounds and passions to the farm.
