Basic Honey
About
The family’s beekeeping operation began during the Great Depression when the great-grandfather received 15 beehives as repayment of a debt. Over nearly 100 years and four generations, the family has expanded their knowledge and practices, purchasing an additional apiary in South Dakota in 1974. They are known for their White Clover Honey from Pukwana, South Dakota, and Orange Blossom Honey from central Florida.
The bees roam freely over five counties, collecting nectar in a way that leaves flowers undamaged. The family harvests honey in the spring and fall in South Dakota and migrates to Florida in the winter. Their raw honey is always fresh, ensuring the full health benefits of natural honey. The beekeepers control the quality from the moment the bees gather nectar until the honey is bottled.
The business also produces beeswax products, including blocks, pellets, and candles poured by hand. They take pride in developing close relationships with individuals and businesses that use their raw honey and virgin beeswax for skincare, cosmetics, and artisan candles.
