About

Facts
Founded 1980 18 acres farmed
Background

Leslie and Glenn Anderson have been farming almonds on 40 acres of family land in central California for 20 years. The farm, known as Wertzba Place, has been in the family for five generations. The Andersons have been running the almond operation since 1980 and have been pioneers of organic farming in the San Joaquin Valley. The farm has been featured in The Guardian, PEOPLE magazine, on National Public Radio, and in Fatal Harvest - The Tragedy of Industrial Agriculture.

Practices

Through organic fertilization and biological farming practices, the soil has transformed from light brown to rich gray, enhancing the flavor of their almonds. The farm has been CCOF certified organic for 10 years. The ideal Mediterranean climate and irrigation water from the melting snow pack of the Sierra Nevada contribute to the exceptional quality of their almonds.

Of note

The farm offers raw, unpasteurized, and organic almonds, which are shipped directly from the family farm to customers. They provide free shipping within the US and offer farm tours by appointment.
