Altai Meadows
About
Altai Meadows is a family farm located in north-central Missouri near Higbee. Named after the Altai Mountains in Mongolia, where Jeff Cook met his wife, Augie, while serving in the Peace Corps, the farm has built a reputation for quality meat products. Jeff and Augie Cook have dedicated themselves to raising cattle in a manner that respects both the environment and the animals. The farm's products are available for purchase at the farm and the Columbia Farmers Market.
The farm's cattle are moved to fresh pasture daily, ensuring exceptional foraging conditions and continuous pasture improvement. The beef is naturally and humanely raised without added hormones, antibiotics, chemical wormers, or vaccines. This commitment to natural practices extends to their pastured chickens and farm-fresh eggs.
Farm tours are available by appointment, allowing visitors to see firsthand the humane and clean environment in which the animals are raised. The farm's products, including beef, chicken, and eggs, are available for purchase both at the farm and at the Columbia Farmers Market. Jeff Cook often engages with customers at the market, explaining the differences between grass-fed and grass-finished beef.
