About

Facts
Founded 1992 55 acres total
Background

In 1992, a family of ten moved from suburban Chicago to southwest Missouri to eliminate debt and embrace a slower lifestyle. They initially settled in Carthage, MO, where they spent several years fixing up a small home. Their journey into farming began with reading about livestock and gardening while living in town. Eventually, they moved to a ten-acre property northwest of Carthage, where they raised various livestock for their own consumption. In 2005, they expanded to a fifty-five-acre farm near Miller, MO, where they continued their farming endeavors. Over the years, the farm has decreased its production as the children grew up, with the daughter taking over some operations.

Practices

The farm is committed to raising animals without the use of hormones, antibiotics, arsenicums, manure byproducts as feed, chemical wormers, or any other substances that animals would not naturally consume. They focus on pasture-raised and pasture-finished methods, ensuring that their beef is grain-free and adheres to organic practices.

Of note

The farm aims to provide healthy food at affordable prices, understanding the financial challenges faced by average-income families. They are located about 30 minutes west of Springfield, MO, and 45 minutes east of Joplin, MO. The farm also offers pasture-finished lamb and maintains a presence on social media platforms like Facebook and Pinterest.
