About the Farm
Background
Located along the Salmon River near Riggins in Lucile, Idaho, 7U Ranch, LLC has become known for its commitment to producing nutrient-dense, pasture-fed meats and raw milk products. The ranch operates under the Idaho small herd permit, allowing them to offer a variety of raw milk products including cream top yogurt, raw milk, and half and half. Over the years, they have built a reputation for delivering high-quality, healing foods to their local community.
Practices
The farm employs rotational grazing to ensure that cattle and sheep are frequently moved to fresh pastures, promoting soil health and preventing overgrazing. Animals are fed sprouted barley grass grown on the ranch and supplemented with kelp, sea salt, trace minerals, and diatomaceous earth. The farm avoids the use of pesticides, herbicides, and synthetic fertilizers, opting instead for hand-picking weeds and using organic fertilizers as needed. Their beef, sheep, and dairy cattle are fed exclusively on grasses and wild herbs, never grain. Additionally, their walnut-finished pork is rotated through pastures and fed lacto-fermented grains, fall fruits, raw pastured milk, and walnuts from their own groves.
The Rest
The ranch offers local delivery of their pasture-fed and finished beef, lamb, and walnut-finished pork. They also provide a free cookbook featuring recipes and tips on using their meats. The farm is open to visitors on Tuesdays from 10 AM to 2 PM Mountain Standard Time. Customers can contact the ranch via email or through their website for product availability and more information.
