47th Avenue Farm
About
On a sunny afternoon in 1996, Laura Masterson launched her pioneering CSA in Portland’s Woodstock neighborhood. Initially, her mission was to grow fresh, local produce for friends and neighbors. Over nearly three decades, the farm expanded to two large parcels, operating two year-round CSAs that serve shareholders, top restaurants, and anyone craving fresh, responsibly farmed produce.
All farm properties are managed using cover crops between vegetable rotations, beneficial insects, drip irrigation, and conservation tillage techniques. This holistic farming strategy improves the tilth and fertility of the farmland while protecting surrounding woods, wetlands, and communities. The farm also uses draft horses on the Grand Island property to minimize soil compaction and enhance soil health.
The farm offers two pickup locations in the Portland metro area: Southeast Portland in the Woodstock neighborhood and Lake Oswego/West Linn at the historic Luscher Farm. The Summer Share runs from mid-May through October, featuring a variety of seasonal vegetables, while the Winter Share from November through April includes greens, root vegetables, and cool-weather crops. Shareholders can enjoy sampling, socializing, and trading recipes during pickups.
