Natural Dye: Primary Colors with Howl at the Loom

Explore the world of natural dyes using color theory with Jasmine Petrie of Howl at the Loom! In this class, we will use natural dyes which impart each red, yellow, and blue – the primary colors. We will practice achieving secondary colors on silk fabric through overdyeing. Students may wish to employ shibori techniques to help see the difference between dye layers, for which guidance and tools will be provided. Students will leave class with artful examples of their work in the form of silk scarves as well as a deepened understanding of naturals dyes and mixing colors. All materials provided - dress for mess!
