About the Event

Driver Registration

All drivers are required to pre-register. If you are entering both the derby and the figure 8 race you will need to fill out both registrations. No entry fee. Just required to pay admission into gate. Pit crew is limited to 4 people per car. Age limit of 16yo unless pre-approved and with parental supervision. No camping in pits the night before. Okay to drop off car night before. Inspections start at 1 PM. All cars required to be onsite by 3PM no later, no exceptions. This year's classes include small car, 6 Cyl, Big Car, Truck and Van. COMPETITION RULES:

· All airbags must be removed

· No Imperials, any year, Imperial sub frames, Ambulances, Hearses, or limousines allowed.

· All vehicles must have a fire extinguisher mounted within the drivers reach, inside the car

· Driver must wear DOT helmet, seat belt and eye protection at all times.

· Drivers must remain in the vehicle with helmet, seat belt and eye protection on until notified by an official that it is safe to exit the vehicle.

· Driver’s door hits are illegal. If the hit is deemed by the official to be careless or intentional, you will be disqualified. If you use your driver’s door as a defense, we will not enforce the rules. If you use the door defense repeatedly you will be disqualified.

· No hot rodding in the pits. Keep it at an idle.

· Any open door will be cause for disqualification, you are allowed one fire, second fire will be cause for disqualification. You may return in later rounds.

· You must make AGGRESSIVE HIT every 60 seconds.

· You will be given ample time for restarts. We do not use the clock exclusively. We try to work with you if you are hung up. Hitters get more time than sandbaggers.

· THERE IS NO ALCOHOL IN THE PITS. This includes pit crews. If you or ANY of your crew is caught with alcohol, you will be disqualified.

· All cars are subject to a post-race inspection before any prize money is awarded.

· You must be a driver to protest, the fee is $100 and you must have cash in hand. This protest must take place immediately at the conclusion of the feature event. The protesting driver must have competed in the same class as the driver he is protesting.

TIRES & BRAKES:

· No tires taller than 31". 4 wheels max per car. No duals.

· Valve stem protectors allowed; wheel weights must be removed. Valve stem protectors may not extend more than 6 inches from valve stem. Not allowed to be a rim protector.

· Doubled or foam filled tires allowed, solid, screwed beads. (We don't want flat tires)

· All cars must be able to demonstrate the ability to stop at any time. If your brakes do not work, you will not compete.

· You may not change tires after inspection, ride height will be measured with your competition tires only.

· Brakes must be operable.

BUMPERS, BUMPER BRACKETS:

1. You may not weld the bumper to the body at any time.

2. I-beam or angle iron bumpers or tubing as long as ends are capped

3. Suspension may be changed.

4. Non stock bumpers cannot extend past the center of tire.

5. Bumpers may be cut to keep them out of the tires (No sharp teeth)

6. Bumper height maximum 24" measured to the center of the bumper (front and back)

7. Any stock car bumper can be used

8. Bumper must be chained to frame to keep track clean.

9. Bumper can be welded to the frame

FRAMES:

1. frames can be hard-nosed no more than 16” front or back.

2. Hump plates allowed (no more than ¼” thick and cannot extend past radius in top of frame)

3. There is no frame shaping allowed at all. Do not sharpen the corners of the frame or square them in any way.

4. 2-fix it plate for fresh car | 4- for pre-ran

RADIATORS, RADIATOR SUPPORTS:

1. No radiator protectors

2. 2 metal straps from top to bottom

3. Radiator supports allowed

4. Radiator must be in the stock position in front of the motor.

5. Radiator supports must remain in the stock location, DO NOT MOVE.

6. No homemade tube construction radiators.

7. You may not add cooling capacity. No supplemental cooling devices allowed.

8. No re-stubbing of frames.

9. All bodies must be mounted on stock OEM frames for that year and make of car.

10. NO PAINTING, BUFFING, OILING OR UNDERCOATING OF FRAMES. THESE CARS WILL NOT BE INSPECTED OR ALLOWED TO COMPETE.

BATTERIES:

1. One battery (any size) may be used.

2. They must be secured inside the car in front of the passenger seat and covered or cut into passenger seat and covered and secured.

3. Rusted out holes in your floor sheet metal may be patched where components will be mounted or for drivers safety, sheet metal only. No other sheet metal patching is allowed unless it is a safety issue. You may not patch clean and solid floors.

4. When patching you may NOT weld, you may bolt, self-tap or pop rivet all patches. No components to include, gas pedal, battery boxes, etc may be welded, you must bolt only. No part or patch may be attached to any vertical sheet metal(firewall), all must be patched or mounted in the horizontal floorboards only. No oversized mount plates or boxes. Do not mount anything within 6 inches of any body bolt.

FUEL DELIVERY SYSTEMS:

1. Plastic gas tanks are allowed if in a secured box. Marine tank or metal fuel tank preferred.

2. Automotive pump gas only, NO ALCOHOL.

3. Electric fuel pumps are allowed

4. Small cars with fuel ell in front of rear axle can leave fuel tank in stock location.

ENGINES:

1. No ether or starting fluid allowed during derby

2. Any stock engine may be used in any car ie (GM Motor in a Ford Car), but it must be mounted within 5" of the original motor. NO HIGH PERFORMANCE BUILT ENGINES)

3. You may chain the motor, but you must use an existing bolt. Chains may not be higher than the top of the stock engine mount cup. Chains may not be attached to the cylinder heads, header flanges of engine plates. 1 Chain per side, 3/8 max

4. No engine oil coolers are allowed.

5. You must have an air cleaner over the carburetor at all times.

6. No distributor protection.

HOODS:

1. Hoods may be bolted, wired or chained shut ONLY.

2. You may use a maximum of 6 bolts to hold the hood 5/8” or less.

3. If you use chain or wire, you may weld up to 5" washers to the hood. If bolting, the 5" washers must be free floating.

4. NO welding of cut outs is allowed.

5. You must have a minimum 10" hole in the hood for fire protection.

6. Hoods must be open at inspection time.

DOORS:

1. Doors may be welded with a maximum of (3)-3"x3"x1/4" plate per seam.

2. Door seams can be completely welded.

3. If you do not weld your door seams you must chain or #9 wire them closed in at least 2 spots. You may bolt your doors shut.

4. Drivers door may have window netting for driver’s safety. NO other windows may have netting.

5. You may weld a plate Maximum 6" x 1/4" across the driver door for protection, not to exceed 6" beyond the driver door seams. These plates must be in the center of the door, run horizontally.

6. Padding is suggested

WINDSHIELD:

Option #1 (minimum)

· You must have a minimum of 1 piece of rebar/all thread/chain #9 wire or 2”X1/4” straps running from the roof to the cowl in the windshield area for drivers protection, up to 2 pieces max. This may not be designed as reinforcement to the car and must be space at least 18 inches apart on the bottom, and no cross connections.

· Screening can be used in front of the driver seat.

Option #2

· Up to 1-3”x3” tube allowed in center of windshield area allowed to connect to halo

HALO & SAFETY BAR:

· Bar from post to post touching the back of the driver seat and 1 vertical as close to driver seat as possible. (3" maximum diameter) .

· Any other modification in the spirit of safety without providing mechanical advantage is encouraged.

· Halo allowed 3” Max Diameter

· Minimum of (1) horizontal bar behind driver seat as close to the driver seat as possible.

GROUND & PIT RULES

· Derby Driver Parking

a. Each REGISTERED derby car is allowed (1) tow truck with derby car and (1) tool truck

b. No extra parking in pits, any overflow will need to pay for barn parking

· Car numbers and class will be assigned during inspection

· Car inspection starts by 2pm on day of event

· All cars and drivers must be onsite by 3pm day of event. No exceptions.

· No camping in pits night before event.

· No one under 16 year old allowed in pits

· Each registered car will be allowed one driver and 3 pit crew members in pits. (4 total per car)
