About the Market
Background
Heritage Farmers' Market began in 2005 when a group of small farmers in central Illinois sought to provide the highest quality and safest food without the chemicals and inhumane treatment typical of factory farms. Initially operating from a small canvas trader's tent on Elm Grove Farm and open only on Saturdays, the market later moved to a small building in Groveland, IL, before settling at its current location just off IL Rt 9 in 2008.
Practices
The market emphasizes transparency and direct relationships between consumers and farmers. Their farming practices include raising free-range animals that have access to wide open skies and pastures, ensuring humane treatment and natural living conditions.
The Rest
Heritage Farmers' Market distinguishes itself from high-priced craft stores and corporate supermarkets by offering straightforward, honest food without complicated or misleading labels. It is a place where customers can personally know the people who grow their food.
