About the Farm
Background
Since 2004, this farm has been cultivating 10 acres of farmland and restoring an additional 15 acres. Known for producing over 300 varieties of heirloom and hybrid vegetables, herbs, and flowers, it harvests over 60,000 lbs of produce annually. It is one of the first certified organic farms in Georgia and a proud member of Georgia Organics.
Practices
Guided by a mission to enrich quality of life, the farm employs organic farming methods, focusing on the health of the environment, bodies, and soils. Certified by Quality Certification Services since 2004, the farm emphasizes composting, cover cropping, and crop rotation to maintain soil health. Compost is made from community and restaurant vegetable scraps, cover crops are used to add organic matter back into the soil, and crop rotation helps disrupt disease and pest cycles while preserving soil nutrients. Drip irrigation and mulches are utilized to minimize water usage, and conservation tillage is applied across the farm.
The Rest
The farm markets its produce through a CSA program, local restaurants, and farmers markets, including the Serenbe Farmers Market and Peachtree Road Farmers Market. It offers weekly Saturday farm tours, kids workshops, volunteer days, and private tours for groups or schools. The farm is part of the Serenbe community, a sustainable village with preserved green space, Earth Craft homes, and various amenities.
