About the Farm
Background
In 2011, a family of farmers with a creative knack decided to break the rules, resulting in the establishment of a 20-acre cut flower farm located in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. Owned and operated by sisters Jessica Hall and Stephanie Duncan, along with their mother Chris Auville, the farm has grown to ship mixed bouquets and bulk flowers nationwide. Known for its extensive collection of over 200 flower varieties, including anemone, ranunculus, peonies, hydrangea, dahlias, and heirloom mums, the farm has become a national trial site for new mum varieties brought to market by international breeders.
Practices
The farm emphasizes a connection between people and nature, focusing on building community and rediscovering the wonder of Mother Nature. As a Certified American Grown farm, it has pioneered the direct shipping of flowers from fields to consumers, ensuring premium quality and freshness. The farm's philosophy combines simplicity in farming with a commitment to providing both at-home and professional designers with premium flowers and arranging tools, fostering creativity and quality in floral design.
The Rest
Visitors can enjoy several farm tours, exploring production tunnels and learning about growing methods. The Pick-Your-Own flower experience in the Victory Garden is available from May to September. The farm shop, open Tuesday to Saturday, offers a variety of farm-grown flowers and related merchandise. The Mum Project, a dream initiative, aims to revitalize American agriculture by making heirloom mums an exportable crop for the USA. Additionally, 15% of proceeds from 'Love Conquers All' go to Cancer Support Community.
