About the Farm
Background
In 2020, Amanda and Steven decided to combine their dreams for family, work, and community into a sustainable farming project. Drawing from Steven's early farming experiences on his grandparents' farm and Amanda's lifelong exposure to gardening, they launched their farm in Wake County, NC. Steven's Appalachian roots and Amanda's childhood memories of fresh produce have deeply influenced their farming practices. They are committed to sharing their love for growing and cooking food with their community.
Practices
The farm is dedicated to responsible land stewardship and community involvement. They never use chemicals, minimize tillage to protect soil health, and choose inputs and farming methods holistically. They source supplies locally, strive to reduce plastic waste, transition off fossil fuels, and buy seeds from small farms and companies. The farm layout includes 10 fields on leased land, with cover cropping and the addition of aged mulch and compost to enhance soil fertility.
The Rest
Customers can purchase produce directly from the farm every Thursday or at the Western Wake Farmers Market on Saturdays. Orders can also be placed online for pickup. The farm offers a weekly produce bag and individual items, with updates provided through their email newsletter.
