About the Farm

Background

Founded with a commitment to changing the food system one pork chop at a time, the farm has been offering high-quality, pasture-raised Heritage breed livestock for several years. They provide a variety of products including smoked hams, loin roasts, leg of lamb, whole duck, and goose. The farm has also adapted over time, scaling certain operations while expanding others, such as delivering pork locally and shipping directly to the Eastern US.

Practices

The farm employs a holistic approach to animal husbandry, ensuring that cattle, sheep, and goats are completely forage-fed. Poultry and pigs are raised on pasture and supplemented with non-GMO, locally grown whole grains and peas. Heritage breeds like Gloucestershire Old Spots, Herefords, and Kune Kunes are chosen for their hardiness, grazing abilities, and exceptional flavor. The pigs are fed whey from a local goat dairy, pasture, hay, extra milk from the farm's goats, and barley. The animals are treated with care from birth, with piglets introduced to pasture on their first day. The farm emphasizes the importance of good soil, which produces nutrient-dense food for both animals and humans.

The Rest

The farm collaborates with local chefs, butchers, and caterers to ensure that every part of the animal is used and appreciated. This partnership creates a community centered around exceptional food, humane farming, and thoughtful preparation. The farm's philosophy is that the best food starts with the soil and is enhanced by careful breeding, feeding, and time. Their Heritage pigs take from 10 months to over a year to grow, resulting in flavorful meat that is worth the wait.
