About the Farm
Background
The property has been owned by the family since 1982, and over the years, they have cultivated a reputation for producing high-quality goat products and vegetables. The farm is known for its dedication to natural farming practices and the health of its animals.
Practices
Natural methods are employed as much as possible in both gardening and farming. The goats, which include Nubian, Sannan, Alpine, and S'Nubians, are vaccinated and wormed as needed to maintain their health. They are fed a custom mix of the best commercial feed and Canadian hay year-round, with free access to pasture and woods. The farm uses a Hoegger pail system for milking when there are more than five goats to milk, and practices sound dairy sanitation. Vegetables are grown in raised beds using composted manure and organic pest control methods.
The Rest
The farm sells excess vegetables when available and offers a variety of goat products, including liquid milk, yogurt, chevre in five flavors, feta, and Mexican Cajeta (caramel sauce). Goat milk is sold as raw dairy for pet consumption only, in compliance with Florida law. Customers can bring their own containers for milk if they prefer. The farm's unique and interesting vegetables are available during the growing season, except for the hot months of July through September.
