About the Farm

Background

Yellow Rose Farm began in 1997 in Grandview, Texas, founded by Kay C. James and her daughter Shannon Lawrence. The farm was named after Kay, who was affectionately called 'Yellow Rose' by her father. Initially started with Nigerian dwarf goats due to Kay's health, the farm relocated to Georgia in 2003 and has since expanded, sometimes housing over 100 goats.

Practices

The farm employs rotational grazing on seven acres, ensuring the goats have access to fresh pasture while maintaining the health of the land. They source grain from a local manufacturer, Godfrey's Feed, and conduct annual health tests for CAE, Johne's, brucellosis, and tuberculosis. The herd is managed to provide year-round milk production without drying off the goats.

The Rest

Yellow Rose Farm offers a variety of goat milk-based products including cold process bar soap, liquid soap, shampoo, conditioner, lotion, and dog shampoo. They also produce all-natural insect repellent, deodorant, face cream, and body butter. Additionally, they provide classes on goat care, soap making, and cheese making for those interested.
