About the Farm
Background
Located in Athens, Vermont, the farm has become known for its specialization in hardneck garlic, producing an impressive 35,000 heads across seven different varieties. Over the years, it has expanded its offerings to include dairy sheep milk, which is sold to local artisan cheesemakers, as well as a range of pasture-raised meats.
Practices
The farm employs grass-based farming methods, focusing on natural practices to care for the land. Livestock, including lamb, Dexter beef, pastured chicken, and heritage breed pastured pork, are all raised on pasture. This approach not only supports animal health but also enhances soil fertility and biodiversity.
The Rest
Products are available at the farm stand and several local farmers markets, including the Brattleboro Area Farmers Market, the West Townshend Farmers Market, the Brattleboro Winter Farmers Market, and regional Garlic Festivals. The farm also offers vegetables, herbs, and flowers, providing a wide array of fresh, locally-grown produce to the community.
