About the Farm
Background
Founded in 2021, Wild Haven Farm has quickly established itself as a refuge, experiment, and enterprise near Wild River State Park in Sunrise Township, MN. The farm is known for its commitment to biodiversity and heritage breeds, offering a unique alternative to factory-raised food. The owners, George and Mandi Sawyer, bring a diverse set of skills and passions to the farm, from high tech and education to traditional Chinese medicine and holistic care.
Practices
The farm employs regenerative practices such as rotational grazing, ensuring optimal nutrition for their goats and poultry while enhancing soil health. Over 500 trees have been planted on the property, contributing to the farm's certification as a MN Water Quality Certified Farm. All produce is either wild harvested or grown and harvested by hand.
The Rest
Wild Haven Farm offers farm tours, camping, and workshops, inviting visitors to engage with their farming practices and philosophy. The farm also provides breeding stock and pets from their heritage breeds, including Fainting (Myotonic) Goats, Nigerian Dwarf Goats, and various heritage chickens. Visitors are required to complete a liability form before visiting. The farm's holistic approach extends to wellness services provided by Mandi Sawyer, who offers acupuncture, herbal prescriptions, and lactation counseling through her practice, Root to Branch Wellness.
