About the Farm
Background
For over ninety years, the Wightman Family has been cultivating and selling fruits and vegetables. In 1922, Albert Wightman and his wife, Laetitia, purchased the initial land that would become Wightman Farms. Albert began by planting fruit trees and vegetables, selling his harvests in nearby Morristown. Over time, customers started visiting the farm directly. Longtime patrons fondly recall buying produce from a table under the mulberry tree, a tradition that has evolved into today's market and cider mill. Now, the third generation of the Wightman family, along with close friends, continues this legacy.
Practices
The head farmer, Adam, has been working on the farm for over 25 years, starting as a teenager. He has experimented with new farming techniques and seeds, continually enhancing the farm's productivity. The farm's CSA program, now in its ninth year, offers a variety of crops including cantaloupe, garlic scapes, kohlrabi, and fingerling potatoes. The weekly CSA boxes provide members with freshly harvested local produce and recipes.
The Rest
The farm market is open seven days a week, with 'Pick Your Own' available on weekends. Visitors are encouraged to check the farm's website for holiday and winter hours. As a courtesy to all customers, pets, coolers, and outside food and beverages are not allowed. The farm market also offers a range of prepared foods and salads.
