Vintage Virginia Apples LLC

Founded in 2000 by the Shelton family, the farm is located in an area once known for its orchards, including the famed Albemarle Pippin. The family purchased the property in 1986, and it has since grown into a multi-generational endeavor. The farm launched Albemarle CiderWorks in 2009 to produce artisanal craft cider, which has been well received and is available in various outlets.

The farm grows over 200 different apple cultivars, including heirloom and more recent varieties, along with peaches, pears, and plums. They focus on cultivating richly flavored apples and offer workshops and seminars on cultivation. The nursery offers over 100 varieties of fruit trees, available through an online catalog during the dormant season.

The farm sells apples and fresh cider directly to the public and at local markets. Their Tasting Room offers cider tastings, and they host various events and workshops. The Shelton family's deep roots in Virginia agriculture and their collaboration with experts like Tom Burford highlight their commitment to preserving and promoting rare fruit varieties.
